Persicaria affinis
Persicaria affinis
A low-growing perennial groundcover loved for its long-lasting flowers and excellent foliage colour. In summer, it produces dense spikes of small, pink flowers that gradually deepen to rich red as they age, creating a striking bicolour effect on each bloom spike. These blooms continue well into autumn, bringing extended seasonal interest.
Its mat-forming habit and semi-evergreen, leathery foliage make it ideal for suppressing weeds and covering slopes or edges. Leaves often take on bronze or reddish tones in cooler weather, adding to its ornamental appeal. Typically growing 6 to 12 inches tall and spreading 2 to 3 feet wide, it thrives in full sun to part shade and tolerates a range of soil types, including poor or dry soils once established.
